It is very difficult to summarise my freelancing experience. Do I talk only about my writing assignments, or do I also talk about my experience of business development, samples that I have written for free, multiple rounds of writing tests that I have to give in spite of my rich experience, financial negotiations that I dread but are inevitable, time management due to tight and often conflicting deadlines, administration work, invoicing, multiple follow-ups for payments, donning the legal hat before drafting or signing agreements, or how I manage my rented office space? Well, the life and experience of a freelancer is this and much more. Every freelancer has a different story to tell and a different experience.
You can get a glimpse into my freelancing experience in one of my interviews. I must add, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Life of a freelancer is full of excitement, creativity, variety, uncertainty, wait, networking, hits and misses, passion, and much more… It is like a one-person company where you are the boss and the team.
Getting into freelancing was one of the best decisions that I have made. I have never been so satisfied with my work. I look forward to it, every day.
